dilatant - "exhibiting an increase in volume on being changed in shape, owing to a wider spacing between particles." If you punch custard it hurts and there's no real mark. If you gently increase pressure without and impact you'll be elbow deep in custard. The same goes for nitrogen i suppose. Also probably Blu-Tac, though I'm just guessing. I like to think of it as a Chinese finger trap. The more you pull the tighter it gets. |
